COLLECTING & INVESTING IN UNITED STATES
RARE GOLD & SILVER COINS

numismatic tools of the trade

"Your # 1 go-to source for United States Rare Gold & Silver coins"

Collecting and investing in U.S. rare gold and silver coins is exciting and potentially a very lucrative adventure. United States rare gold & and silver coins hold both numismatic and intrinsic value, making them highly sought after by collectors and investors alike.

Successfully collecting and investing in United States Rare Gold and Silver Coins is not a simple task.

From a collecting standpoint, you never sacrifice quality over quantity and you ALWAYS want to acquire the best coins you can afford.

From an investment perspective, acquiring collector-grade and investment-quality coins is essential. As an investment, United States rare gold and silver coins can provide long-term growth and wealth protection.

They are historically valuable hedges against domestic and global economic uncertainties, inflation, and high interest rates. Looking for a quick profit is a mistake you want to avoid.

At Minuteman Rare Coin, our expert numismatic collecting and investing advice will guide you in making informed decisions, choosing the "right" coins, and navigating the exciting world of United States Rare gold and silver Coins.

The most successful collectors and investors seek expert guidance and have a long-term vision when assembling a historic, valuable, rewarding, and profitable U.S. gold and silver rare coin collection, such as Minuteman Rare Coin Numismatics.

A gold and silver rare coin collection should be well diversified and hold a variety of United States rare gold and silver coins that include different series, typesets, mint sets, designs, eras, and date runs.

A valuable gold & and silver rare coin collection holds historically significant authenticated, certified coins that are scarce to rare and are always in high demand. Coins with low mintages have low survival rates and are considered key to semi-key dates in their respective series.

A valuable rare coin collection holds a diversified collection of collector and investment quality grade rare gold and silver coins.

This approach to collecting and investing in United States Rare gold and silver Coins mentioned above will minimize your risk and exposure to market fluctuations, maximize price appreciation and growth in value over time, and greatly enhance your opportunity for success.

Our "coins of the day" are excellent examples of the types of historically significant, authenticated, certified, and scarce coins that are always in high demand that we offer.

It is essential to understand the difference between numismatic coins and bullion coins. Numismatic coins hold precious metal content and intrinsic value due to their historical significance, scarcity, and rarity.

There are other benefits, such as they are tangible hard assets with a finite fixed supply, while the value of bullion coins is based solely on their metal content and current market value only.

For example, a numismatic 1 oz gold coin like the $20 gold Double Eagle typically has a much higher premium above their bullion counterparts due to their "intrinsic value," especially in higher Uncirculated Mint State condition.

CHOOSE A NUMISMATIC EXPERT

When you begin your journey of assembling and owning a historic, valuable, and rewarding United States Rare gold and silver coin collection, identifying your goals and objectives is the first essential step.

When your goals and objectives are in place, you can begin laying the foundation for your collection by developing a solid action plan, budget, and approach for which types of coins, series, and sets you will focus on.

Suppose you are a novice and are just starting on your collecting and investing journey regarding assembling and building the highest-quality, most historically significant, and most valuable collection of U.S. gold and silver rare coins you can afford and think you can do it independently. We hate to tell you, but you're sadly mistaken, and here is why;

Astute collectors and investors of U.S. Rare gold and silver coins seek a Numismatic expert mentor like Minuteman Rare Coin Numismatics to guide them and help them manage their collection and acquisition choices.

Every serious collector has a Numismatic rare coin expert working with them. Every great collection ever assembled had an expert Numismatist behind it. An expert Numismatist will not only guide you in finding the "right" coins but also help you avoid the "bad" ones.

Over time, a collector and investor and a Numismatic expert build a partnership. Having multiple "coin dealers" shopping around for you does not make it any easier for you to find the right coins for your collection to reach your goals and objectives. In the long run, in most cases, it will cost you more and will increase your chances of making mistakes.

With our 30 years of Numismatic experience, we can honestly tell you that you only need one U.S. rare gold & and silver coin expert whom you can trust and who will look out for your best interests, like Minuteman Rare Coin Numismatics.

THE NUTS & BOLTS OF COLLECTING & INVESTING

All of your United States Rare Gold and Silver coin acquisitions should be authenticated and certified by one of the three superior Third Party Grading Services (TPGS).

Preferably, Certified Acceptance Corporation (CAC), Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), or National Guaranty Corporation (NGC) with a Certified Acceptance Corporation (CAC) green sticker approval, when available.

CAC has now begun its own grading service of authenticating, grading, and certifying coins with encapsulation. We recommend previously authenticated and graded PCGS and NGC coins with a CAC green sticker, and now we will pursue all newly graded coins by CAC.

At Minuteman Rare Coin Company, we only recommend and place authenticated and certified United States Rare gold and silver coins from CAC, PCGS, and NGC in client collections.

In 1986, Third-Party Grading Services (TPGS) leveled the playing field by verifying the authenticity, defining standard coin grades, and providing a 100% guarantee for each coin they graded and certified.

Third-party grading has removed much of the risk involved in acquiring U.S. rare gold & silver coins.

By assembling a well-balanced and diversified collection, when it comes time to liquidate, there will be no doubt about determining the value of a coin because an expert professional numismatist has already determined their authenticity and grade, backed with a 100% guarantee.

The following are significant factors that determine the value and price of United States rare gold & silver coins:

1.) Grade

2.) Mintage

3.) Survival rate

4.) Demand

5.) Investment Potential

6.) Eye-Appeal

United States rare Gold and Silver coins are not traded as commodities like stocks and bonds.

Two 1909-O (New Orleans) $5 Gold Indian Head Half Eagle coins may appear identical and share the same certified grade and condition, but subtle differences can make one coin better than the other.

That's why in many instances, the determining factor for choosing one coin over another comes down to eye appeal, and its value can be considerably more than the other coin.

The general public is unaware that about 90% of all United States Rare Gold and Silver rare coin transactions are traded privately.

Therefore, collectors and investors must have a professional Numismatic company with a trained eye, years of experience, and an extensive network of resources with access to some of the finest and rarest Gold and Silver coins in the U.S. rare coin market, like Minuteman Rare Coin Numismatics working for them.

We have advised, recommended, assisted, and guided countless clients in assembling historic, valuable, rewarding, and profitable United States Gold and Silver rare coin collections tailored to their goals, objectives, and budget.

INVESTING & COLLECTING BY SERIES

Collecting and investing in U.S. Gold and Silver rare coins as a series is challenging.

Most series are too large, have specific dates and mintmarks that are just plain unavailable or are in such low supply that they often don't become available on the market.

When they do come on the market, the competition to acquire them can become so heated that it can lead to overinflated prices, especially coins presented through auction houses.

The $1 Liberty Head gold piece and the $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle are examples of series with long runs with many different date and mintmark combinations, beginning in the mid-19th century thru the late 19th century for the $1 gold piece and the mid-19th century thru the early 20th-century for the $20 Double Eagle.

The $1 gold piece ran from 1849 to 1889, and the $20 Liberty Double Eagle from 1850 to 1907, and both these coins had three design types.

The Morgan Silver Dollar has 96 date and mintmarks, just in the standard series.

The Seated Liberty Silver Dollar series consists of 45 date and mintmarks with two varieties, the Type 3 and the Type 4.

This doesn't seem to be an extensive series to complete, but many dates in the series' early years are scarce to extremely rare due to low mintages and extensive melting.

Making it a series that is all but impossible to complete in Uncirculated Mint State condition.

The ONLY rare Gold coin series reasonably attainable to complete in mid to high Uncirculated Mint State condition for a broader range of collectors and investors is the early 20th-century $2.50 Gold Indian Head Quarter Eagle.

(RED ALERT: Assembling the $2.50 Indian Quarter Eagle series in the highest certified grades you can afford ASAP is our highest United States Rare Gold Coin acquisition recommendation)

There are 15 coins in the series minted from 1908 to 1915 and 1925 to 1929. We cannot stress enough the exceptional investment opportunity this series presents. By assembling this series now, the upside for future growth in value and price appreciation is outstanding based on past price performance and history.

The Gold $2.50 Indian Head Quarter Eagle series in mid to high Mint State condition was trading at double its current value as little as three years ago, with some individual coins trading at double their present value as little as one year ago. Think about that!

group-of-$2.50-Indian-head-gold-quarter-eagles

The Gold $2.50 Indian Head Quarter Eagle series contains key dates, 1911-D, 1914-D, 1911, and the underappreciated 1929, which present a bit of a challenge to find in lower to high Uncirculated Mint State condition graded in Gem MS-65 and higher but with persistence, patience, and a bit of good luck are achievable.

The Gold $2.50 denomination dates back to 1796 and was the third gold coin produced and released for circulation by the United States Mint in Philadelphia. The Indian Head Quarter Eagle is the last of its kind ending the denomination's 133-year run in 1929.

Completing this historically significant series created by esteemed Boston sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt with its innovative, daring, and artistic "incuse" design is a formidable accomplishment for its proud owner.

We project the $2.50 Gold Indian Head Quarter Eagle series to steadily climb back to its previous values within 3 to 5 years. NOW is the time to assemble this series.

Remember, a completed $2.50 Indian Quarter Eagle series was trading at DOUBLE its current value as little as three years ago.

INVESTING & COLLECTING BY TYPE

Due to the challenges of assembling and completing individual United States Rare Gold and Silver coin series, many investors and collectors turn to assembling typesets.

This approach allows the investor and collector to acquire coins from a particular series regardless of date and mintmark. Examples of valuable and historically significant Gold typesets are:

The Gold $5 Half Eagle is a typeset consisting of coins representing five designs minted between 1795 and 1929. The objective is to acquire one specimen of each of the five designs in the highest certified grade you can afford.

The $1 Gold Liberty Head/Indian Princess "Small and Large Head" typeset consists of 3 coins representing the three varieties minted from 1849 to 1889.

1856 San Francisco $1 Indian Princess Small Head Gold Coin

The 3 coin Gold $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle minted from 1850 to 1907 is another exceptional typeset. The $20 Liberty Double Eagle has three varieties in the series.

1857 San Francisco $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle

On the Silver side of a well-diversified U.S. rare coin collection, targeting the mighty Morgan Silver Dollar minted from 1878 to 1904 and 1921 and the Seated Liberty Silver Dollar minted from 1840 to 1873 are excellent series to assemble typesets, subsets, date runs, and mint sets.

Both Silver Dollars are classic American coins that investors and collectors value for their beauty and history. They represent exceptional investment opportunities for price appreciation and growth in value over time.

Along with assembling valuable typesets of the Morgan and Seated Liberty Silver Dollars series, we highly recommend acquiring as many key and semi-key dates as possible.

Combining Gold and Silver typesets is an excellent example of how our Company assists our clients in achieving a well-balanced, diversified, rewarding, and profitable United States Rare Gold and Silver coin collection.

INVESTING & COLLECTING BY MINT

All of the U.S. branch mints are extremely rich in history. For investors and collectors fascinated with the "Wild West" and its legendary reputation worldwide, the focus should be on building valuable mint and typesets of rare gold and silver coins produced at the Carson City, San Francisco, and Denver branch Mints.

Follow your interests! Collecting and investing in United States Rare Gold & Silver Coins is exciting and potentially very lucrative, but it should also be FUN!

Carson City Morgan Silver Dollars and Carson Gold Coins are legendary and attract investors and collectors worldwide. They were minted during the height and heydays of the "Wild West" in the late 1800s. Millions of collectors and investors from around the world are fascinated with this era of United States history.

Completing a 13-coin Carson City mint set in the highest certified grades you can afford is a formidable achievement for its proud owner and comes with an exceptional opportunity for growth in value and price appreciation based on its track record of past price performance and consistent growth in value.

The allure of Southern history would involve acquiring valuable rare gold coins produced at the Charlotte and Dahlonega branch Mints from 1838 to 1861 and gold and silver coins produced at the New Orleans mint from 1838 to 1861 and 1879 to 1909 to make for a magnificent, stunning and well-diversified collection.

The combination of rare gold and silver coins produced at these three southern branch mints makes for an eye-opening United States Rare Gold and Silver "mint set" for any rare coin collection!

INVESTING & COLLECTING BY DENOMINATION

A  great diversification strategy is assembling historic and valuable United States Rare Gold and Silver coins by denomination.

For Gold, the object here is to focus on one or more of the $1, $2.50, $5, $10, or $20 Gold pieces and acquire as many specimens as possible in the highest certified grades you can afford.

For Silver, we recommend focusing on one or more of the seven $1 silver denominations minted from 1794 to 1935, targeting particular scarce, rare, and key date coins.

Focusing on the Morgan Silver Dollar, with its 96 date and mintmark combinations, and the Seated Liberty Silver Dollar, with 45 date and mintmarks, are fantastic rare silver coin series to utilize the "acquire as many as possible" approach.
