TOP 5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE COLLECTING AND INVESTING IN TYPE 3 CARSON CITY GOLD $20 DOUBLE EAGLES

1.) Historical Significance:

Type 3 Carson City gold $20 double eagles were minted from 1877 to 1893 with the exception of 1880, 1881, 1886, and 1887, and 1888, when their production was halted.

Completing a type 3, with Motto, $20 Carson City Mint subset consists of 12 coins and is a formidable accomplishment for its proud owner.

The Type 3 $20 Double Eagle is noticeably different than the Type I and II designs.

On the reverse side of the Type 3 coin (tails) the word "Dollars" was added in 1877, replacing the "D" in Twenty D.

Whereas the Type 1 had No Motto, "In God We Trust," and with the Type 2, the U.S. Mint added the Motto and "Twenty D"on the reverse side of the coin.

These coins hold a piece of the American frontier, symbolizing the Gold Rush era, arguably one of the most legendary and historic eras in American history, the "Wild West."

These were the gold coins that Jesse James and his gang robbed banks for. It was a time of mining boomtowns, rowdy saloons, gunslingers, and outlaws.

2.) Design and Symbolism:

James B. Longacre, Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint designed designed the Liberty Head Double Eagle, also known as the "Coronet" Double Eagle, in 1849.

Adorning Lady Liberty on the obverse and the iconic eagle on the reverse, the intricate design of these double eagles is a testament to the artistic excellence of the time.

The Carson City mint mark, "CC," proudly identifies their origin and adds a distinctive touch to these coins, making them highly coveted among collectors and investors worldwide.

4.) Collector's Market:

The collectors market for Type 3 Carson City gold $20 double eagles has steadily risen in value and demand over the past few decades.

Collectors seek these coins not only for their intrinsic value but also for their historical significance.

Investors seek these coins not only for their historical significance but also for their investment potential.

As collectors and investors continue to appreciate the historical value and significance of these rare treasures, the allure of Carson City gold will remain strong in the world of rare coin collecting and investing.
